Quick & Healthy Decadent Chocolate Mousse

Howdy!

I’ve had a major sweet tooth lately (okay, I always have a major sweet tooth), but if I ate everything I craved, I would probably have crazy health issues. If you haven’t noticed, I love creating healthier alternatives to the sweet junk I crave. I wanted something chocolaty, so I came up with a yummy chocolate mousse recipe, and it features one of my favorite foods – avocados!

Avocados are full of good fats (which are essential to a well-rounded diet, believe it or not), and they make this chocolate mousse recipe packed with essential fatty acids. This recipe is great for when you have ripe avocados but aren’t feeling avocado toast (is that even possible?), or when your avocados are still good, but not quite pretty enough for guac.

Besides the awesome nutrients and quality calories (and of course, the yummy taste), one of the best parts about this recipe is that it takes hardly any time to make, and requires very few ingredients. Fast and simple recipes like these are my favorite types of recipes because not only am I a gal with a packed schedule, but also because I know that anyone will be able to create them.

Ingredients (1-2 servings):

  • 1 avocado
  • 3 tbsp. cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 shake cinnamon (optional)

Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender and whiz for a minute or two, or until everything is smooth and incorporated completely. Place in a container and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. If you can’t wait, that’s totally okay! It’s perfectly delicious straight out of the food processor – the fridge time just allows it to set like a mousse it give it that texture.

Next time you have a sweet tooth, or some avocados on hand, I hope you decide to try this recipe!

Naturally,

Ari
