Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask

Hey friends!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted a natural DIY recipe, hasn’t it? Unexpectedly, I had a lot going on this semester and didn’t have a blog schedule that was actually attainable. BUT with spring break being this past week, I had time to sit down, re-vamp my blog schedule, and get ahead. I’m so excited to see where my blog goes over the next few months and can’t wait to share a lot of new things with you all!

I also had time to relax and make time for myself over spring break. I really started to implement a skincare routine and took some time to try out a few facial masks! Today, I’m going to share one of my favorites with you – a DIY Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask!

This mask has activated charcoal, which really helps to draw out toxins in our skin. After rinsing this mask off, I noticed that the gunk on my nose and chin had disappeared. If you don’t have a jar of activated charcoal on hand, I HIGHLY recommend you get some ASAP (I linked the brand I use down below)! The bentonite clay also helps to de-clog pores by binding to dirt and toxins.

In this recipe, I also used aloe vera gel but you can substitute the aloe for water if you have very oily skin. Somehow over the last few years, my skin has transitioned from very oily to somewhat-dry. The aloe helped prevent the charcoal and clay mixture from soaking up all the natural oils in my skin and kept my skin from getting that unpleasant, tight feeling.

Ingredients:

Measure out your activated charcoal, bentonite clay and aloe vera gel (or water). Mix in a small mixing bowl and apply to skin. (The aloe makes this mask thicker and more gel-like).

Leave on the skin for 10-15 minutes, or until the mask hardens. Rinse and pat dry.

This mask is super simple to make and leaves the skin feeling so clean and smooth. Enjoy!

Naturally,

Ari
